Digital lockdown: Startup Canary pushes high-tech home security
  • Digital home security system maker Canary is in the catbird seat for startup 
  • It was announced that its debut product will be sold starting Wednesday in some of America's biggest retail outlets: Amazon, Best Buy, Home Depot, And Verizon Wireless
  • The retailers listed above will sell the system, and State Farm is giving Canary a seal of approval by offering owners of the security device up to seven percent discounts on their homeowners or renters insurance 
  • Canary has been flying high since its record-breaking Indiegogo launch in 2013; It had raised $2 million by selling more than 16,000 units to homes in 78 different countries

Amazon gets FAA approval for drone testing
  • On Thursday the FAA issued an experimental airworthiness to an unmanned aircraft design that the company will use for research and development and crew training
  • The certificate, however, hardly allows for the Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to start his ambitious Prime Air plan
  • Under the certificate, flight operations must be conducted at 400 feet or below during daylight hours, and has to stay in line of sight of the pilot
  • The rules also include the banning of flights over people not connected to the drone's operation
  • Amazon sees these rules as a setback for their plans

  • The most likely release date will be September this year, given Apple's past history with releasing their phones around that month
  • Rumors say that the new iPhone 6S will keep the 4.7 inch design like that of the iPhone 6
  • Color choices for the iPhone 6S would include gold, silver, space grey, and rose gold (pink)
  • There have been rumors about a new charging method, including wireless charging, as well as a new reversible USB charger

  • The development of self-driving cars could spur advancements in robotics and cause other ripple effects, potentially benefiting society in a variety of ways
  • Self-driving cars could also help people grow accustomed to other machines, like robots, that can complete tasks without the need for human intervention
  • Many tech companies and car makers—including Google, Intel, Sony, Honda and Toyota—are already developing robots, the report noted
  • Google has invested extensively in self-driving vehicles and recently debuted an autonomous car
