Amazon gets FAA approval for drone testing
- On Thursday the FAA issued an experimental airworthiness to an unmanned aircraft design that the company will use for research and development and crew training
- The certificate, however, hardly allows for the Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to start his ambitious Prime Air plan
- Under the certificate, flight operations must be conducted at 400 feet or below during daylight hours, and has to stay in line of sight of the pilot
- The rules also include the banning of flights over people not connected to the drone's operation
- Amazon sees these rules as a setback for their plans
